Baltimore, a creative and vibrant city.

From annual traditions such as Artscape, the Baltimore Book Festival, Baltimore’s Fourth of July celebration, and Baltimore’s New Year’ Eve Spectacular, to new innovative festivals such as Light City Baltimore, Baltimore features a wealth of arts events every week. Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) manages several historic attractions and sites in the Baltimore area including School 33 Art Center, The Cloisters, the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower, and Top of the World Observation Level, and as the city’s designated arts council, BOPA makes the arts accessible to all, through events like Free Fall Baltimore, the Janet and Walter Sondheim Prize, the annual Open Studio Tour, and unique creative place-making programs such as Art@Work.

And, in Baltimore there is something for everyone. Theatre aficionados have their pick from traveling productions at the Hippodrome to large rep shows at Center Stage, Everyman or Chesapeake Shakespeare to smaller, adventurous pieces at Single Carrot or Baltimore Theater Project. For music, there’s the venerable Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, more intimate concerts at Shriver Hall and varied offerings from groups like Choral Arts and Handel Choir. Museums and galleries abound from the bigger institutions like the BMA, the Walters, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum, and American Visionary Art Museum to the smaller and still great ones like Maryland Art Place, Make Studio, and the Contemporary. And, don’t forget the kids. Baltimore boasts many excellent organizations for arts education like Jubilee Arts, Young Audiences of Maryland, and Magical Experiences Arts Company.

In the city’s three Arts & Entertainment Districts you’ll also find a wealth of arts organizations and events. Find venues and listings at the websites for the Bromo, Highlandtown, and Station North websites.
