A rich artistic and cultural environment

Artists performing at the Avalon TheatreTalbot County, on the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake Bay, enjoys a rich artistic and cultural environment. Easton’s major local arts organizations and offerings include: the Academy Art Museum, the Avalon Foundation (historic Avalon Theatre and annual plein air art festival), Chesapeake Music (annual Chamber Music and Jazz festivals), the Chesapeake Film Festival, the Waterfowl Festival, and the Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra with four concerts annually.

In Oxford, the community center hosts a fine arts fair in mid-May, and the Tred Avon Players offer dramatic and musical productions year round.  The St. Michaels Art League sponsors an Under the Tent exhibition and sale on Labor Day weekend; the town also hosts the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, with art festivals, maritime art shows, and summer concerts.

Talbot County also features the Bay Country Chorus, Easton Choral Arts Society, Mid-Shore Community Band, and the Tidewater Singers, as well as many art galleries, and a variety of festivals and special programs in the towns of Tilghman and Trappe.
