A hub of all things arts.
With a large gallery that rotates every month and a facility that hosts community events, Cecil County Arts Council in Elkton’s Arts & Entertainment District is this northeastern county’s cultural hub. Also in Elkton, the Chamber and Alliance hosts free live music performances every Thursday night, May through October, and an annual Fall Fest.
Throughout the year, the A&E District hosts the Arts Loop in Elkton, with many participating galleries studios and venues, such as pottery purveyor and studio Art Space on Main, the Gallery at 122, Tidewater Tattoo, and The Palette and the Page. But Elkton is not the only arts destination in Cecil County.
The quaint, waterfront, bed-and-breakfast town of Chesapeake City has shops, galleries, and restaurants on every corner, including Kevin Quinlan Photography, My Jewelry Place, and the Vulcan’s Rest fiber arts shop.
In Rising Sun, visit the Rising Sun Music Emporium for all your recording, production, restoration, or conversion needs and take a class in decoy carving at Fowl Play Studios, founded by noted artist Jeffrey Moore in 1995.
In North East, local art is on display at Kathy’s Corner Shop, the lathe is always spinning at resident wood carver, John Styer’s place, and community theater abounds at the Milburn Stone Theatre. Image Credit: John O. Dixon (Life To Lens Photography)
