Allegany County is known for its great outdoor experiences, such as hiking, biking, camping and canoeing. No matter what time of year one visits, travelers will find high-quality cultural events, such as the Mountain Maryland Studio Tour, Allegany National Photography Competition, and the Mountain Maryland Plein Air hosted by the Allegany Arts Council. Allegany County’s two largest cities, Cumberland and Frostburg, are both official Maryland Arts & Entertainment Districts.
